Have you lost your Blackberry?
"Before
I learned about Lost-blackberry.com I thought the only things you
could mark for retrieval were pets or secret government documents
(well, sort of). I just never considered that there might be more
of a security feature for personal electronics than my own eyes.
My Blackberry was my lifeline - it attached me to twitter, to facebook,
to travian (an addictive online game). I blogged from it, kept my
appointments in it, used it to keep me awake on my long train commutes
(yay for downloadable games!), had precious pictures on board of
friends and family, and - oh yeah - used it to keep in touch with
people too. It had been a big investment for me and I wanted to
make the most of it. I don't think I'm alone here in how much one
small piece of electronics can be integral in your life, I mean
it's a fact of modern technology: we live our lives in a digital
age. It's easy, it's convenient... the only problem is if we lose
that one small item, it throws our entire lives into chaos. On the
train one day, after too long of a day at work, I dropped my bag.
I thought I scooped everything back into it, but on getting home,
I discovered that among a couple of other small items, my Blackberry
was nowhere to be found. I panicked, I called the CTA lost and found,
I even called a friend to come over with her car and help me try
to track the train down. No luck anywhere - all my data and all
my connections were gone, just like that. It was absolutely devastating,
and not just financially - I'll never be able to recover some of
that data. Not to mention that a cute guy I'd met probably thinks
I'm blowing him off because I'm not calling - but that number was
in my Blackberry!" Katie, Chicago IL
